Work description

The Tree of heaven (Ailanthus altissima) has brought to Jerusalem at the late 60s and early 70s from its natural habitat north-east of china. one of the main ideas of planting this tree in Jerusalem was to make shade with this high-speed growing trees for new to come neighborhoods after 67 war. this specie is highly resistant to air pollution, toxic & acidic soil, every mature tree can spread up to thousands of seeds every year with ultra-high germination percentage - what made it one of the most thriving and aggressive invasive species in Jerusalem and across cities all over the world.

This work made in Berlin with local Ailanthus altissima branches that was documented over 7 days of natural drying process, and containing over 80 scans.
